Providing ready for employment, smart and competitive graduates out of vocational schools has been the main target of the Directorate Technical and Vocational Education which is under the Directorate General of Management for Primary and Secondary Education. The Ministry of Education, together with industry partners, has continuously developed the number of vocational school students, along with improvement in their quality. In 2015, the number of vocational school students is expected to reach 70% of the total number of students pursuing secondary education, with 30% of it belongs to senior high school students. To achieve this goal, we need to draw public attention to the strategic role technical and vocational education has. Technical and vocational education promising a bright future will be an alternative and a clear choice in pursuing secondary education.
Aside from that goal, we need to focus on developing the necessary facilities for vocational schools, e.g. by providing up-to-date Laboratory, developing mutually beneficial partnership with the business or industry, and by providing an easy access for students who choose to study at vocational schools.
